Who we are

We are GLOBAL TEACHERS CO-OPERATIVE CREDIT UNION (GTCCU). We are the preferred Credit Union for our Members, stake holders, staff and the Community in which we operate. We are located within the business precinct of Tamale, Northern Region. Our founder D.Y SOULOUKUN started the Union with a handful of Catholic unit Teachers. His motivation was to encourage savings and on lending amongst Teachers operating within the Tamale Metropolis.

Our Union which started with the name TAMALE TEACHERS COOPERATIVE CREDIT UNION operated with a strictly only members from the teaching profession within the Region. Later due to popular demand we opened our doors to Teachers outside the Region due to this our name metamorphosed to Global Teachers Cooperative Credit Union. We attained full membership with Credit Union Association (CUA) on 29th March,1993.

Today 29 years on we are proud of growing our fellowship from a handful of teachers in the beginning to more than 4,000 faithful and committed Members. This has been possible in part due to opening up our common bond to all enthusiast of the Movement. Today we have a fellowship drawn from diverse and passionate individuals and institutions including professional Teachers, Doctors, Nurses, Petty Traders, Contractors and business executives in our fold.

We pride ourselves for excellence and total commitment to the welfare of our members. We have become a beacon of hope for the Credit Union Movement in the North. Through our effort the Union has provided dire financial and non-financial relief packages to thousands of the members. By this genuine commitment thousands have been saved.

Through our recent unique business model, the existence of our Union is being revived into a brand that is appealing and acceptable. To achieve this goal, we have consistently invested in some of the most motivated and skilled workforce in the Credit Union industry. This workforce forms the bedrock of our successes today.

To be competitively viable and as part of sustainment strategy we will build on our existing progress to deliver solutions through the use of smart and available Technological platforms. We intend to fuse technology and banking as a means to a achieve the ever-demanding appetite of the business environment.

The brand promise of “MEMBER CARE’ will continue to feature prominently in our current and future endeavors. At no point will we deviate from this grand pledge to our members. Gtccu aims to become a Credit Union of choice first in Northern Ghana and then later the whole Ghana. We will achieve this goal in the long term by continually thinking outside the box and bring out the best ways possible of serving you our dear Members. The journey is long and difficult yet we will reach the destination.
